First Stretch Wrapping Machine
the beginning
A revolutionary idea sparked the start of Lantech, Inc. in 1972. Pat and Bill Lancaster believed that pallet loads of products could be stabilized and protected better if wrapped in layers of stretched plastic film. The elasticity of the film would act much like a rubber band, tightly containing the products.
The idea discussed at the kitchen table quickly led to the world's first stretch wrapping machine being built in their workshop, and testing proved that the concept of stretch wrapping worked. Their passion to perfect their invention grew, leading to its introduction to buyers at the Packaging Machinery Manufacturer's Trade Show in 1973.
The stretch wrapping concept was immediately recognized as a significant advance in technology.
