This week I interviewed Madison Crawford, our Case Equipment Product Manager, for her advice on a subject a lot of people ask about:

"Square

“What are the 3 most important factors to consider when evaluating a case erector?”

Here’s what she said:

1. Don’t jam

Machines, especially case erectors, like uniformity. Unfortunately, boxes come in all shapes, sizes, and conditions. An irregular case in a case erector can lead to jams. Machine jams are the number one case erector complaint. Find an erector that is designed to minimize jams and can handle case-to-case variations and imperfections.

2. Square cases

The quality of the case produced from the case erector is important, too. You want the case to be square once it has been erected. Square cases are easier to package products inside, easier to stack, and protect your products better as they ship to your customers.

3. Easy to Use

What often turns people away from automation is the fear of difficulty. Case erectors have gotten much easier to use and much more reliable during the last five years.

Find a case erector with simple-to-use features. How easy is it to load cases into the machine? How easy is it to change over from one size case to another? And how intuitive is the machine to use? These are important issues to consider.
