Our Company

Two Visions. One Direction

In 1972, Pat and Bill Lancaster founded Lantech and developed the first stretch wrapping machine, laying the foundation for modern pallet load containment technology. This innovation transformed the way manufacturers protect goods in transit, and today billions of pallet loads are stretch wrapped annually worldwide.

Across the Atlantic, another entrepreneurial journey began more than a decade later.

The Origins of Rembrandt Packaging

On December 1, 1985, Theo van Rijn founded his own company to realise his vision of designing a case erector based on his own mechanical principle. Initially registered as van Rijn Verpakkingstechniek, and later named Rembrandt Packaging.

The name reflected both Theo’s surname and his ambition to build machines with the same level of craftsmanship and quality associated with the works of Rembrandt.

In the years that followed, Rembrandt Packaging established a strong reputation in the European packaging market, particularly in case erecting and sealing technology.

Shared Vision Across Continents

By the year 2000, Rembrandt Packaging was seeking opportunities to expand into a broader global market. During this search, contact was established with Lantech in the United States — a company that had similarly built its position on innovation and a clear technological vision.

Pat Lancaster founded Lantech with the ambition to solve the problem of load instability in transit, positioning the company at the forefront of stretch wrapping technology. Like Theo, he believed in engineering-led innovation and long-term market impact.

It quickly became clear that both companies shared:

  • A focus on innovation
  • A commitment to reducing transport damage
  • A belief in delivering measurable value to customers
  • A complementary product portfolio

Together, they recognised the strategic advantage of offering a complete End-of-Line packaging solution — from case erecting and sealing to stretch wrapping and pallet conveying.

In 2001, Rembrandt Packaging became part of the Lantech organisation. The shared goal was to deliver a comprehensive end-of-line packaging program to customers worldwide, combining American stretch wrapping innovation with European case handling expertise.

“I absolutely love the service and care Dwayne and his team take when completing the various tasks I need. Whether it is completing a regulatory training specific to my facility or other general safety requirements, I know I can trust the work to be nothing but the best. I would recommend them to anyone if asked!”

- Ann Armstrong – Safety Lead

“There’s a culture here, there’s a family. It always has been and I can never imagine it being anything else.”

- Caroline Castelli, Director of Sales Training Development

“I am thankful to be here at Lantech, and to be part of this.”

- Greg Bauer, Product Development Technician

„Hier bei Lantech gehen alle sehr respektvoll miteinander um.“

- Mike Dippolito, Project Manager

“The enthusiasm that Pat and Jim bring to work every day is really infectious.”

- Robert Boston, Product Development Engineer

Transition to One Global Brand

Rembrandt had already established a strong and respected presence within the European packaging market. For that reason, it was a deliberate strategic decision to maintain the Rembrandt Packaging name during the first years following the integration.

As the collaboration strengthened and the combined identity became clear in the marketplace, the final transition to the unified company name Lantech took place.

This evolution reflected not a replacement of heritage, but the integration of two engineering traditions into one global organisation.

Today

Today, Lantech designs and manufactures stretch wrapping, case and tray handling, and pallet conveying systems from production facilities in the Netherlands and the United States, supported by structured sales and technical service across Europe and worldwide.

The company’s mission remains consistent with the original vision of both founders:
to reduce in-transit product damage, improve packaging efficiency, and support manufacturers in delivering goods safely and reliably through complex global supply chains.
